Getting Great Prints on the Bambu Lab P1P
The P1P is Bambu's open-frame bedslinger sibling to the enclosed P1S — same core machine, no enclosure and no auxiliary fan. Its printing physics belong with the A1's, not the P1S's.
Is the Bambu Lab P1P enclosed?
No — and it does not carry a dedicated auxiliary (chamber/side) part-cooling fan on top of the main print-cooling fan.
No enclosure and no auxiliary fan, despite sharing so much hardware with the enclosed P1S. Don't apply P1S ABS/ASA advice to a P1P without adjustment — the P1S's chamber-assisted results assume hardware the P1P doesn't have.
Baseline settings for the Bambu Lab P1P
These are Bambu Studio's current stock filament-profile values (X2D-generation profiles, the same baseline every Bambu machine's Filament settings tab starts from) — treat them as the starting point for a Bambu Lab P1P, then calibrate per spool:

P1P-specific notes
ABS/ASA needs a tent on the P1P. Without the P1S's enclosure, warping control depends entirely on an owner-built enclosure and the standard open-printer values. See the ABS/ASA warping guide.
An aftermarket enclosure is a popular, well-supported P1P upgrade. If ABS/ASA is a regular material, community enclosure kits close most of the gap to a P1S — once added, re-tune part-cooling fan speed down for those materials the way any enclosed machine expects.
PLA/PETG results are close to the P1S's since neither depends much on chamber heat — the enclosure gap mostly matters for ABS/ASA/PA/PC.
Symptoms this machine's form factor is prone to
Without a chamber, the Bambu Lab P1P inherits the classic open-printer failure modes in full: warping and adhesion loss on hot materials, and higher sensitivity to room drafts than any enclosed machine has to deal with:
- Warping and bed adhesion — the two symptoms an enclosure would otherwise mitigate.
- First-layer problems — open frames are more exposed to bed-leveling drift from handling and transport.
- Ghosting and ringing — lighter open frames typically need more belt-tension attention than an enclosed cube at the same speed.
A sane first-print checklist
- Match the plate selection in the slicer to the plate on the bed. The single most common "why won't this stick" report on any Bambu machine, this one included.
- Calibrate flow and pressure advance for anything that isn't Bambu's own filament. Generic and third-party spools can be several percent off the stock flow ratio — run the built-in calibrations from Bambu Studio's Calibration tab before trusting a new spool's first real print.
- Change one variable at a time. A print that fails after three simultaneous setting changes tells you nothing about which change mattered; the fastest route to a dialed-in Bambu Lab P1P is small, single-variable tests.
