Getting Great Prints on the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon

The X1 Carbon is Bambu's flagship enclosed CoreXY: full enclosure, auxiliary chamber fan, LiDAR-assisted first layer and AMS as standard. Most of its failure modes are tuning issues on top of genuinely capable hardware, not hardware limits.

Is the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon enclosed?

Yes — and it does carry a dedicated auxiliary (chamber/side) part-cooling fan on top of the main print-cooling fan.

The enclosure and auxiliary fan put the X1C in the same tuning class as the X2D and P1S: it can run ABS, ASA, PA and PC without an aftermarket tent, and the auxiliary fan gives you a second, independent cooling lever for those hot materials that an open printer simply doesn't have.

Where X1C owners actually lose print quality

Running PLA at the same aggressive cooling as an open printer. The X1C's enclosure holds more ambient heat than an open bedslinger even with the door shut only loosely, so PLA overhangs can look slightly softer than the same file on an open machine. It rarely needs a fix beyond accepting it — PLA's stock fan curve already assumes some enclosure heat soak.

Why does my X1C string only on long AMS prints?

Moisture is the first suspect. On long multi-color jobs the AMS gives a marginal spool hours to reabsorb moisture mid-print, and the AMS desiccant needs replacing on a schedule — not just when a print visibly strings. If stringing appears specifically on long AMS jobs but not on short single-spool prints, dry the filament and refresh the desiccant before changing slicer settings.
